For over 15 years, we’ve been specialists in repairing PCs, laptops, gaming gear, and mobile devices, evolving from humble roots into a trusted name in the Chicago tech community.
Our story starts in the mid-90s when I, Justin Cardoza, began tinkering with computers out of my childhood bedroom. What began as a solo operation repairing 2-3 computers at a time, blossomed into a full-fledged business thanks to my brother William and one of my best friends, Carlos. Together, we embraced the emerging internet, immersed in this exciting new world of information technology.
From a two-person operation, we grew into a flourishing business through continuous learning and innovation. When we opened our first location on Archer Ave in Chicago, William brought his experience in tech and retail management, supercharging our offering, especially in the gaming PC market. William finds joy in seeing customers’ faces light up when they see their custom-built gaming PCs.
During our growth journey, Computer Prodigies achieved the esteemed status of an approved vendor for Chicago Public Schools. Our partnerships expanded to include numerous charter schools, empowering us to handle massive service contracts encompassing 250+ Chromebooks. As the market demand surged, so did our expertise and reach.
Our sister Priscilla brought her dedication and talent for tablet repairs. She finds tranquility in restoring damaged Android and Apple iPads.
My journey has been marked by exciting twists and turns. In the early days, I met Carlos, a tech whiz and ‘brother from another mother’. Together, we tackled intricate board-level repairs on electronics. After a hiatus, Carlos returned just before the Covid outbreak when business boomed with students learning remotely and more people working from home. With his expertise in component-level motherboard repairs, Carlos was a welcome addition to our team.
Carlos, with his unparalleled passion and foresight, became a pivotal addition to our leadership team. But it’s essential to note that beyond our core leaders, a robust team of skilled technicians stands with us. This collective strength propelled us from the humble beginnings in my childhood bedroom—where we serviced 1-3 computers—to our modern capability of managing large-scale educational contracts.
Embodying this momentum, we have now inaugurated our second retail location in Oak Lawn, ready to serve with the same dedication and quality.
